| The courses in Manual Lymph Drainage(MLD®) are based on those of the Dr. Vodder School - Austria, the original and leading school for this technique in Europe. They are designed for licensed or certified estheticians seeking to enhance the health and well-being of their clients. A description of each course is given below. Students receive an internationally recognized certificate from the Dr. Vodder School upon successful completion of the training. |

Basic Body (5 day): An intensive 5 day course involving much hands-on work. The basic strokes are taught and treatment of each body part, which is all put together on the 5th day. The theory covers anatomy and physiology of the lymph system, connective tissue, effects of MLD on the nervous and immune systems as well as effects on drainage and cleansing of congested tissue. The various causes of tissue congestion are described in relation to the types of clients the esthetician will be working with. The objective of this course is to learn Manual Lymph Drainage techniques for the full body, for use within the esthetic framework.
Class time: 40 hrs

Advanced Body (5 day): This 5 day course focuses on improving and upgrading the esthetician's skills and knowledge. Advanced theory and current research is given. The participants are encouraged to share their experiences with MLD. Additional techniques are given for the face treatment and their application in practice. Applications for practice are shown including MLD for pre- and post-cosmetic surgery, scar treatment, cellulite, weight reduction, dermatological indications and skin care. This class is not meant to teach any therapeutic application of MLD such as lymphedema care, sports injuries, etc. An oral or written exam as well as a practical exam are given at the end of the course.

Basic Neck & Face (3 day): A 3 day introductory class in MLD which teaches basic anatomy and physiology of the lymph vessel system along with the effects, contra-indications and precautions of MLD. The practical sessions focus on treatment of the neck and face enabling the esthetician to get a "feel" for MLD. This treatment is easily incorporated into the repertoire of basic skin care and will enhance the natural cleansing mechanisms of the skin.
Class time: 20 hrs

Advanced Neck & Face (3 day): A 3 day advanced course which reviews and updates the skills learned by the student in the Basic course. Current theory and research are given to broaden the estheticians understanding of the lymph vessel system and MLD. Additional techniques are shown for the face treatment with practical applications to such conditions as acne, rosacea, pre and post cosmetic surgery, congestion etc. A short exam at the end of the course is given and successful students receive an advanced certificate from the Dr. Vodder School for neck and face treatment.

Advanced Neck and Face Updating (1 day): This one day class will encourage estheticians to maintain the high skill level attained in the Dr. Vodder School training, to achieve better results with their clients.
The morning will be Basic practical review plus a theory updating and will be open to people who have taken Basic or Advanced Neck and Face. The afternoon session will be open to those who have taken the Advanced Neck and Face class (who will also attend the morning session). The afternoon class will focus on advanced techniques for the neck and face, problem case discussions and a little more theory updating.

Instructors of the Dr. Vodder School have undergone a thorough teacher training program.
After accumulating clinical experience with patients, prospective teachers train in classes
with certified teachers of the Dr. Vodder School and are required to teach under supervision
while in the training program. Practical and written exams are conducted by the Dr. Vodder School
directors including the medical director. Once certified to teach, our instructors are required
to attend an annual Teachers Review in order to maintain and up-date their skills.
Please be aware that there are many people claiming to teach the Dr. Vodder method of Manual
Lymph Drainage.
